FORKLIFT-TRACK safety

The principle purpose of FORKLIFT-TRACK is to monitor the driving style of the forklift truck drivers. Therefore the reports available that determine this are extensive yet simple to understand. There are two key areas:

1. Overall driving style reports

2. Bump reports

The overall driving style reports are based on data collected 100 times per second and can therefore capture an overall pattern of driving behaviour for each driver. Driving style is determined by monitoring the degree of g (acceleration) in both forwards and reverse direction and lateral acceleration (ie during cornering). If a drivers report shows low levels of g in these axes, this is indicative of a responsible, non-aggressive driving style. If high levels of g are typical, this is indicative of an aggressive driving style.

The bump reports show detailed data for individual events. These are viewable sorted by driver or sorted by severity of bump. A bump is determined by exceeding a preset level of deceleration, for example during an impact. The data leading up to the event has been buffered in memory and is immediately saved once the excessive deceleration is detected. The next time the data is schedule to upload to the network, the detail data regarding the impact will be uploaded for analysis. This will include evidence of excessive g in any one of the 3 axes prior to the impact, i.e. rapid changes of direction (cornering for example).
